The challenges of an upcoming producer: Limited Resources

That track comes on...it hits Your favourite Stereo or Tv Channel and You get goose bumps, You miss places You have never been to ,Your heart starts pacing...uttz!uttz!uttz! Faster n faster ,harder...UTTZ!UTTZ!UTTZ!...the feeling of ultimate ecstacy ,and for a second or two...You forget everything and are intimate with the volume dial, grinding it up n more up ,graving for more ,more volume, more feel ,more!...more!...mooooooooreeeee.

It's tracks like that ,it's tracks like that which make one fall in love with MUSIC and I am not talking about trap ,hip hop ,edm ,jazz or dubstep...I am talking about Music...and for some of us the Love goes a step further...WE WANT TO MAKE TRACKS THAT WILL GIVE OTHERS THAT EARGASM TOO...

I wrote that last statement in Bold fonds because any other motivation for making music other than that is not authentic and will eventually fade like dust in the wind...Now comes the tricky bit ,just like falling in love is easy ,falling in love with music is easy but just like the love, the tricky bit comes when it is time to implement and worse still it is harder when You are from a country where getting Your next meal or a decent shoe is a challenge of monumental proportions...throughout this series of articles I will be writting about challenges met by upcoming producers in 3rd world countries or producers with limited resources and I will be providing as much help to them as I possibly can...

Some of the challenges are not necessarily specific to 3rd world producers so even You from the UK and USA can still learn a thing or two.

1. Resources

Resources

First and foremost of any budding producer or any job for that matter is the concern of getting the right EQUIPMENT for the job...producing equipment includes, a computer(laptop or desktop just a matter of personal preferrence and limitation of resources)a DAW and VSTs...speakers and headphones are a requirement but not necessarily an insumountable obstacle to produce without, although I would advice to have.

Getting all the above mentioned recquirements means one should have money...making money requires time...and sooo begins the chain...mostly in 3rd world countries one is either in some public school or at work...which means no time to pursue the passion and less time to make the spare cash needed for setting up a proper studio.

So there they are ,two of the most valuable resources are at extreme shortage in 3rd world countries...soo what do we do? quit? Hell Naw...

2. Improvise

Improvise

Improvising as says Wikipedia means ,"is the process of devising a solution without no previous preparation by making-do". ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/improvisation )

What this means is that...You can make extra money during Holidays to buy that DAW you need ,You can identify the needs of those around You, sell pencils if you are at school, sell muffins at work during the lunchbreak, open FL or Ableton to put down that wonderful melody that has been in your head all day during lunch and work on it when You get home after work...all I am saying is...KEEP YOUR EYE OPEN FOR OPPORTUNITIES AND UTILISE THEM.

3. Use what you have

Use What You Have

When I began I thought I needed a new laptop with expensive speakers and analog synthesizers like those of Deadmau5 to make good music...nooooo You don't...that old laptop that You already have is enough...those VSTs that come with whatever DAW You use are enough...learn about them, download articles about how they work, read and ask questions at producer FORUMS, watch Redhead Roman and the rest of the WA Productions team and learn at every opportunity You get...Use those low quality Nokia headsets You have, use Your laptop speakers, listen to professional tracks and try to produce similar quality...

It will take time but with lots and lots and lots of work (I know You hate hearing about this,I hate it too...I wish it would be easy peasy but I won't lie and say it is). You will get better and better and better until eventually You are at a point where You sound like Garrix or Zedd or whoever You idolise...they didn't get good overnight either...
